PlaneSWING® versus Other Hoop Trainers
Your Questions Answered.
Tony Clark, owner of PlaneSWING® was previously the Managing Director, significant investor and shareholder of a similar more basic golfing training hoop aid.
Tony launched PlaneSWING®, with 4 key improvements that have resulted in PlaneSWING being used by PGA Professionals, Players and Amateur golfers in over 50 countries across 4 continents, and growing!
Q:Is PlaneSWING just like the others?
A: PlaneSWING is an updated and improved version of the age-old hoop concept. A concept that is endorsed and used by the world's leading instructors both past and present. We made several changes and improvements detailed below.
Q: Do you use a roller on PlaneSWING?
A: No. We have developed a PowerSLIDER™. A weighted club that stretches and trains specifically the golfing muscles when used in the golf swing. With Tony's experience we have designed the PowerSLIDER to create a more dynamic motion than a roller. The build-up of a light film of rubber around the hoop develops a resistance, simulating "lag" in the downswing. Unlike the roller, the PowerSLIDER will not get ahead of the hands at the impact area and not cause the wrists and forearms to excessively flip through the hitting area. Basically a golfer has more control with the PowerSLIDER. The results at the PGA Show in Orlando, GolfLIVE in London and other consumer shows in the US & UK have been outstanding.
Q: Does the PowerSLIDER work on other hoop trainers?
A: Yes. We have already supplied many owners with PowerSLIDERS and PlaneCHECKERs, although the optimum usage is with a PlanSWING® complete.(see below)
Q: What is the weight of the PowerSLIDER?
A: We have three types at this time with others planned. The "standard long" PowerSLIDER weighs 1.3kg and is 112cm long and is included with every PlaneSWING. This simulates driver through to a 5 iron. We also have available the "short" PowerSLIDER (1.1kg and 100cm long). This simulates 6iron through to wedge; and the "long lighter" PowerSLIDER designed for juniors approaching 4ft 9in (145cm), ladies and seniors or those recovering/suffering from physical challenges is just 0.7kg. Like the standard long PowerSLIDER it is also 112cm long.
Q: What is the lifespan of a PowerSLIDER?
A: It depends on use in the same way that a tyre's wear is determined by mileage. An amateur using PlaneSWING 4 times a week may need to renew a PowerSLIDER after 12 months whilst a teaching professional may require a replacement sooner. The PowerSLIDER is a more robust piece of equipment than the roller.
Q: Why is there no fin on PlaneSWING?
A: One of Tony's concerns with alternative hoop trainers was the tendency of golfers to come out of their spine angle to check whether or not the roller was on the fin. To remedy this we have developed the PlaneCHECKER™. This simple tool fits into the end of the grip of the PowerSLIDER. Golfers can now check at a glance whether or not they are on-plane (consistent with the plane angle setting of the PlaneSWING). Another benefit of not having a fin is the ease with which the PlaneSWING can be folded before and after use.
Q: Why do you have straight lines on the Stance Alignment Mat?
A: We've focused on a non-confusing square set up. This was decided after researching the views of professionals and inferior product owners, many of whom found the curved lines confusing.
Q: Why do you have numbered decals around the PlaneSWING hoop?
A: These are reference points that help teaching professionals with their instruction and golfers with executing drills more effectively. The numbered decals are placed in a clock formation on the inside of the upper hoop facing the golfer.
